KSB recognizes the role played by the Council in the growth of the organization and ensures that each member of the Council has the following qualities:

  • Actively contributes to achievement of KSB’s vision, mission, values and provides advice on programmatic issues.
  • Contributes time, material and financial resources to the growth of the Society
  • Promotes and links The Society with other organizations for partnerships and resource mobilization.
  • Advices KSB on areas of improvement in the image of the organization and its various programmes.
  • Makes proposals for possible nominations to the Council.
  • Exercises Council powers in the best interest of The Society and adheres to the policies of The Society.
  • Carries out ongoing Council assessment processes and facilitates Council development activities

Angela Waceke is a transformational Business leader and mentor with 20 years’ experience in the marketing services space having provided support to businesses in diverse industries, including Manufacturing, Financial Services, Retail, Media, and Telecommunications. She has vast entrepreneurial experience having founded Kalins Marketing Ltd, EWD Ltd and Cellpoint Communications Ltd. She is also a Partner in Angelic Healthcare Ltd-UK and is currently serving as the Managing Director at Kalins Marketing Ltd and as a Regional Director of Premium Partners International Ltd headquartered in Belgium. Angela is passionate about transforming lives and touching one life at a time. Her passion for leadership, social transformation and community impact has seen her currently serving on several boards: Alzheimer’s and Dementia Organization (ADOK), Community information Network (CIN) and currently the Chairlady of the Kenya Society for the Blind (KSB). Angela has spearheaded various social transformation initiatives. In her own individual capacity, she has supported Thika School for the Blind and Joy Town School for the disabled and has been involved in programs supporting people living with Sickle Cell. Angela holds a Diploma in Sales and Marketing and has various certifications in marketing and brand development. A devout Christian with a keen interest in Social transformation and Care giving

Mark Onyango

Mark O. Onyango has a BBA (Accounting) from the University of Kampala, and is currently pursuing an MBA. Mark has over 10 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance and Audit acquired through working in the Government, NGO and Commercial Sectors in different capacities. He is currently the Finance Officer at State Department for Petroleum, as well as the current Vice Chair of Audit & Risk Committee for the Kenya Society for the Blind.

Jonathan Nyamai

Mr. Johnathan Nyamai is a Principal Education Officer based at the Ministry of Education head office, Jogoo house. He was born in 1961. He is fully sighted. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Science). He has worked in the sector of Education for the last 34 years. He has climbed the ladder as a Secondary school teacher, Deputy Principal, Deputy Provincial Quality Assurance & Standards officer, County Director of education and currently the Principal Education officer  at the Directorate of SNE- MOE Headquarters. He is a Council member as well a member of the Program Committee at the Kenya Society for the Blind.

Ministry of Health Representative

Dr. Michael Gichangi

Dr Michael Gichangi trained as a Medical Doctor in 1992 and Ophthalmologist in 1999 from University of Nairobi In 2012; he obtained Master of Science in Public Health for Eye Care from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2019 he completed a fellowship in Global Health Leadership, with Afya Bora Consortium, focusing Health policy issues in Kenya. He holds the position of   Senior Deputy Director of Medical Services and Head of Ophthalmic Services Unit at Ministry of Health Kenya, where he facilitates and coordinates the implementation of Public Eye health policies; He is 55 years old and has no disability. He is a Council member as well as the Chairman of the Program Committee at the Kenya Society for the Blind.
